"Implementation of a course grain DNA potential-- and punting"

Implementation of a mesoscale molecular model of DNA is in progress. This model is suitable for study of DNA systems where an understanding of localized phenomena is desirable. This model is suitable for simulation of DNA from the nanometer to micro-length scale since longer times scales are needed. Specifically, the application of this method to DNA viral packaging is the long term goal in predicting the thermal and mechanical behaviors of DNA. I will describe the model implementation, current progress, and future plans--which includes perfecting my punting skills.
