“Ionospheric Imaging”

The ionosphere, the region of atmosphere where solar radiation produces heavy ionization, plays a crucial role in fields such as radio communication and space weather research. Monitoring of this system is of great scientific and practical interest. In this talk, we demonstrate the use of a new incoherent scatter radar facility to produce a 3-dimensional visualization of electron density. This represents an entirely new way to study a large portion of the sky with a single device.
